We have a HP Photosmart Premium TouchSmart. To create the watercolor photographs, you will need a photo printer. We don’t have much experience with watercolors, or painting in general, but it didn’t take us long to get a technique down and create some pretty cool pictures. We originally saw this technique on Better Homes and Gardens website, and decided to give it a try. Create canvas effects for your images by selecting “Apply Canvas” from “Filters > Artistic”.We are obsessed with this super simple technique for turning your regular photographs into watercolors. Helpful advice: Experiment with different settings of each tool before saving your work. To preserve the original file, set the edited image to another name when you save it. ![]() Save your work after achieving the desired effect.Use GIMP’s Blur tool to increase the watercolor effect.Set the Mask size slider to a value between 14 and 16, then click OK. Select Filter > Artistic > Oilify from the menu bar at the top of the screen.Repeat this operation until you are happy with the results. Drag this tool over areas of your image that you want to turn into watercolor effects. Select the Smudge tool from the toolbox at the top left of the screen.The Background copy layer will be visible. ![]()
